Free Lance Newspaper
Sally Baker once contributed a free lance newspaper article and got her name published in print for the very first time. For her, it was an exciting moment, one that she will remember for a lifetime. Sally never had the chance to get published in print, but that one time she got her article published led her to a career towards freelance journalism, something she never imagined she was going to do.
Working for a free lance newspaper gave Sally the experience she needed as she explored freelance journalism as a possible career opportunity. Because of her past experience volunteering for The College Voice, a network of newspaper and magazine publications through her college year and published by her journalism class, Sally gained valuable experience that provided her with insight to explore her career.
Sally covered many different stories for the free lance newspaper. In fact, she found herself in the middle of a tornado amidst tornado watchers and though she thought it was an exhilarating experience, the freelance photographer working with her snapped photos that showed otherwise.
Alas, Sally’s experience with the free lance newspaper opened doors she never thought were possible, such as the CEO interview she got for a major Fortune 500 corporation which gave her some insight into how business works, and the many contacts she has built that are now fuelling her growth as a freelance journalist.
To think that Sally’s success started with one free lance newspaper that appeared in a Chicago column. To think about what she had gone through, and the experiences of her success, is simply remarkable at best. What will she do next, now that she has explored possibilities outside of the free lance newspaper?
