You see, I’m Shawn Moses, and for the past eighteen years I have been a freelance technical writer contributing to several well known technology publications published by some of the world’s biggest publishers. So when someone asks me how to become a technical writer, what do I tell them? Well, I stress out the importance of enjoying what you do. I became a technical writer because of the fact that I enjoy writing, and above all I simply love technology. Technology is my life, from the moment I purchased my first computer, to my current collection of the most amazing toys and goodies. My passion for technology, coupled with my writing ability, has made it a profession worth pursuing.
If you’ve ever wondered how to become a technical writer, let me tell you how I got started. I started by writing for a weekly technology newsletter, and after a publisher read my article and started following it week after week she invited me to write for her magazine, Dots and Pixels.
She asked me if I wanted to find out how to become a technical writer, and naturally I said yes. From that moment on, I spent a lot of my time churning out article after article, which I really enjoyed doing. It got to the point where several other publishers and editors started noticing my progress, and offered me technical writing positions.
As you see, I’ve learned how to become a technical writer and what it really took to develop my career. What are you waiting for?
